Yeah, I mean it's uh well uh I guess we'll just just do it. Hello, boys and girls, and welcome to the Motors I Coman Podcast. This is episode 483.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02And uh I'm Ted, your host, here in the corner at the V20 Cafe, and as always, we have the same group of people as a Motley Crew. Tim Buck2, of course, is here. And uh we don't know where Chris is. We assume he's asleep somewhere. So, you know. But anyway, uh Justin Brown shoes. Get the fuck up! Yeah. Hi, boys. Yeah, what's what's going on?
SPEAKER_05You are baby. I don't know about that.
SPEAKER_02Man, it's like we're just and I were just talking about the the weather. It was it was nice this morning. It was like Yeah, in the morning. Like mid-80s, mid-upper eighties. And then it's like I it's like I went outside, I went, I got something out of my truck, I came back in a house, and then a couple hours later I went back outside, and it was like I was standing on the surface of the sun. The weather just like went freaking crazy, and it's what was it? Feel like it was 107 today?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Well, it's summer, bro.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_05It is what it is.
SPEAKER_02I know, it is what it is, yeah.
SPEAKER_05And then it's supposed to be summer, and you decided to more move to the south.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, where it's it where you know what you know interesting, it's interesting factoid here, right? It is hotter here than it is in Florida. How about that?
SPEAKER_01Right. That's good. I don't know about good.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. It's like everything is like all melty and stuff. It's all crappy. Yes.
SPEAKER_04How about some of those places where tires are melting? Really?
SPEAKER_02Seriously?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, there's people that have like the tires are sticking to the ground and they can I don't even know where it was. I saw it like it's so hot. Like in Vegas and stuff.
SPEAKER_02You know what it's interesting though, is what it what happens to asphalt in heat like this. Yeah, right. Oh man. It's like you put your kickstand down and then you if you're not if you don't put a puck under your your kickstand, your your bike's gonna probably gonna take a nap.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's why all your stuff all your uh your driveways are all uh concrete instead of uh asphalt.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Your tires are just sitting there, you'd be just sinking into the ground with the biggest.
SPEAKER_02Sinking in, and yeah. Oh my god. It's been it's been really bad. But um we're all good and everything's groovy cool, and uh it's it's it's been uh uh we've been kind of busy doing stuff. I know you guys, everybody's doing stuff. Tim's golfing. You golf today, Tim?
SPEAKER_04I did not.
SPEAKER_02I golfed yesterday. You golfed yesterday. Tell us about your golf experience.
SPEAKER_04No, it was horrible.
SPEAKER_02Oh, do tell.
SPEAKER_04Oh, he shot an 81. No. I shot a 91.
SPEAKER_05All right, listen. I don't want to hear anything about horrible if it's not triple digits.
SPEAKER_04What do you mean? Why does it have to be triple digits? Horrible. Is anything even horrible for me? Yeah. Last week I played a whole a whole n day without losing the ball. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_02See, that's a great feat to do that. That's a thing to strive for.
SPEAKER_05Of course, like, you know, when when you're just done that on nine holes.
SPEAKER_02But you know what, that's easy to do in miniature golf. So I've never lost a ball in Retro Golf either. But you know, you you you have gotten a couple 82s, right? You got a couple 82s.
SPEAKER_04You have an 80.
SPEAKER_02You shot an 80, Justin.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, hey, you know, you shot an 80. That's good.
SPEAKER_04Hey, I'm retired. I mean, I have one goal, and that's to shoot an 80. Shoot under 80.
SPEAKER_02So what happens? So when you shoot a 79, you're gonna give it up?
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, right, sure.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_04Oh, then I'm gonna shoot for 75.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, and then you shoot for a 70, or you shoot for a par. You gotta shoot for a par of the course. Easier said than done. No, well, come on.
SPEAKER_04There's always blow-up holes, right, Justin? Every hole for me is a blow-up hole.
SPEAKER_05But no, it's true. There are absolutely the the blow-up hole usually comes after you have a really good holder to the case. It's right, exactly. You should burn it next to it.
SPEAKER_02Your confidence is through the roof.
SPEAKER_05You're getting that stroke right there. You're like, I think, I think my game's turning around, and then you shoot an eight.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04We play gentlemen eighth, you know, and we just know more than one.
SPEAKER_02Ain't that the truth? See, that's why I gave go gave up golf. Because I I, you know, I generally don't like to get involved in things I suck at.
SPEAKER_04So Well, everybody sucks at everything when they first start. Well, yeah. It's all a matter of what effort you put into it. I think I had nothing out of it.
SPEAKER_02I I think I quit golf after playing it for three years. I think that'cause I never broke it. I never broke a hundred.
SPEAKER_04I never broke a hundred.
SPEAKER_02Not that I didn't have I never had my own clubs either.
SPEAKER_04Right. That's that's that's a problem.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Uh yeah, so I got guys that I play with that always shooting around a hundred and they're always bitching. I said, you have no right to bitch because you never work at it. If the only time you play is when you come here and you don't work at it at home or go to the driving range and work out stuff, you're gonna stay the same. So don't bitch. I have a right to bitch. I go to the driving range once a week and I still suck. So I have a right to bitch.
SPEAKER_02See, Justin just knows he he's just sucking at it.
SPEAKER_05Well, I don't I I don't play enough. Like, so like I'm gonna I'm going on Saturday.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you are?
SPEAKER_05And where are you playing? Uh actually, I don't know if it's this Saturday or next Saturday, whatever it is. Um I'm playing Ashbrook, but uh I uh that'll be the second time I've been out this whole this whole year. And the first time was in like I don't know, May or something like that. Like, I don't I don't get out enough to be able to build on anything, so every time I go, I suck.
SPEAKER_02Do we do we want to take bets as to what his score's gonna be?
SPEAKER_05105. I would shoot higher.
SPEAKER_02Really? Like I I'll go one, I'll go, I'll go a 110. How's that? That's my guess. 110.
SPEAKER_05Add them together. No.
SPEAKER_04Justin, I'm gonna help you out right now. Instead of taking full swings, take half swings. And you'll do a lot better, promise.
SPEAKER_05You know what's funny you say that, because I actually uh I was thinking about I was I well, I wasn't thinking about half swings, but I was thinking about the equivalent of like a three-quarter swing. Like I was thinking about just like not trying to fucking absolutely send it. Not that I tried absolutely send it, but I was thinking about trying to focus more on hitting the ball straight. Yeah. Which for the most part is not really my struggle. It's just sometimes I just you're chopping it or you're fattening it. Sometimes, or but my my short game is is not tremendous.
SPEAKER_02I remember one time, uh well back when I was playing golf, and it was Tim, uh, myself, uh, one of the guys I worked with, and uh a friend of his. I don't know if you remember this, Tim. We were playing at a golf course down where I lived. It was um what was the name of the course down there? I don't remember. Okay, I it was uh anyway, it was we were on this one hole, and I guess Tim and this guy got into this I I this match between themselves, and Tim was crushing every drive. He I don't care if it was the par three, he was crushing the shit out of the ball. I can drive further than you. Watch this. And both of these two were going at it, and there was balls flying over. And that's the I think that might have been the game where we almost got struck by lightning.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's right. Remember that? And they had it, they came out in the truck and picked us up and said, We don't want you out here, and it was pouring out, and we're in the back of this truck and it's pouring out.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god.
SPEAKER_04It was uh matter of fact, I remember that one time because uh in the beginning I I managed to hole one out of a bunker.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04That's always a break for like when you hold out of a bunker. Now I have my bunker plate as shit.
SPEAKER_05Actually, I'm not bad out of a bunker. Really? So there's your key right there. It's like the one time, then you can just absolutely fucking mash it, and that's exactly what you need to do. Like nothing.
SPEAKER_02There's your key right there, dude. Aim for the bunker every time. And then all you gotta do is if you're good out of the bunker, there you go. We're just gonna call you bunker from now on.
SPEAKER_05There you go.
SPEAKER_02Hey, maybe we should um you think we should stop talking about golf and start talking about motorcycles? So, anyway, so uh uh last uh two weeks I had interviews. I spoke with uh Narissa of this uh YouTube channel called uh and uh Instagram page called uh She Knows Moto. And she basically just talks about uh her getting into motorcycles and what she does and doing her own repairs. She's actually an engineer, so she does her own repairs on her bike and things like that. So it was a really interesting article. Then I spoke with uh Aaron Douglas from Custer State Park, and we were talking about the roads out there, uh Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road, and what the uh what attendees, people who are going to the park to ride their motorcycles through, what should expect and all that. And uh great interview. Really, really enjoyed that one. So that was that. Um have you guys at all seen any of the videos coming out of Sturgis?
SPEAKER_05Uh a handful, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Did you see the weather they're having?
SPEAKER_05No, I didn't. No.
SPEAKER_02They're getting hailed on and rained on like crazy.
SPEAKER_05I didn't I didn't see all the videos I saw, there was no bad weather.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. There was a I I I should have had a video prepared, but I didn't. But there was a a couple of videos I saw where I think they were on um Vinocker Canyon Road uh out of uh Rapid City. Or maybe they were further west, I'm not 100% sure. But they had um uh the road was covered in snow and hail.
SPEAKER_04Really?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so there was like all you could see people uh guys on bikes cruising along with their feet out, like in like outriggers, and driving in the little tiny little line that the cars left behind. So yeah, it's been pretty brutal. That's not fun. Right. So yeah, it they they've been having some wicked weather.
SPEAKER_05Well, it happens like every year.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, well, you know, the two years that I went, we did have some bad weather in the 2023, we did have some bad weather in the beginning, and it was like these spotty rainstorms that would crop up out of freaking nowhere.
SPEAKER_05There's nothing to stop them.
SPEAKER_02Right, it's just a deluge for about an hour and then it stops. And unlike here, it does it doesn't turn into a swamp, steamy, swampy, you know, you get that swamp ass thing. That didn't happen. But uh but last time I went in 2024, uh, all the storms we had came at night. Which which was good. You know, that that's when you want the storms to happen. So but um Yeah, right now, uh things are kind of things are kind of chill. I uh I can put this up. Hang on a second I'll just leave I'll just leave it up so you guys can look. But it's pretty cool. There's a lot of cool stuff going on right now. I'm gonna share the screen, but this is so our folks at home can watch. Sure they will. Anyway, but uh yeah, things have been uh pretty uh pretty cool, you know.
SPEAKER_04It doesn't look that bad there, it looks nice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Is it going on right now?
SPEAKER_02This is right now, this is live. Yeah, this is uh this is a uh yeah. This is uh Main Street. They got they got a uh what do you call it? Uh cam going on there. Live live cam. Yeah, so but that's but that pavilion there to the left is where um Justin, you might recognize this. They have they have bands play there and all that. But pretty cool. So yeah, that's the weather right now. Anyway, but uh so yeah, things have been uh crazy. Uh the the rally is underway. Uh there is uh stuff happening. Oh we got it going on. They got giveaways going on, they got of course the concerts and things like that are happening. Uh our friend, our good friend Larry Marshall, who usually goes, isn't there this year. He didn't go there this year. But some of the guys uh we got uh Dave Shoop and I think even a couple of the other guys uh from the Loud of Pipes podcast and uh the Chasing Asphalt Podcast are out there. Uh so they're gonna give us a full report and all that. So yeah, things are cool. So I in a way I'm kinda when after I see this the weather, I kinda I'm kinda glad I didn't go.
unknownYou know.
SPEAKER_05Are you uh are you making up for it by riding at home?
SPEAKER_02Uh no, I haven't I haven't been doing that much riding at all. It's just been too freaking hot. I know, and I don't just well, you know, it's it's like the wintertime. You don't want to you don't want to bundle up to go riding in the wintertime, and then in the summer months you just don't want to be miserably hot when you're riding either. So um and it's not good for the bike, really. But uh I haven't I suppose I could get out early and go ride, but you know, or I could ride at night, and I'm not a huge fan of the riding at night, but anyway. So, anyway, um the motorcycle podcasters challenge is in currently we're on week seven right now. Awesome, and it's going really, really well. Everybody's having a great time. And right now, uh, I can I can show you guys the scoring. Well, where is it? Why'd it go away? I don't know why it went away. Yeah, it went away. See, why it's going, I don't know why it goes blank. Anyway. Let me change the screen quickly. But the the the challenge is going very well. Uh everybody's having a good old time. And uh I'm one of some of the comments that I'm hearing is that a lot of people are just they're they like they're liking what's happening in a challenge because they're they're seeing things they've would have never seen before. They're uh that that they would have otherwise just driven by. Um, some of these roadside attractions they've never that they've never seen, they're just cruising by. Um right now, the way the stats stand, uh we have of our eighteen of our 19 solo riders, um the points are racking up, and these people are gathering the attractions. But right now the team standings are uh the loud asphalt pipe chasers team, team number one, uh currently has 508 points, and they've a they've gathered 278 attractions so far. Yeah. So just to give you an idea of what we're talking about as far as goes for gathering in the attractions and stuff like that. Uh cumulatively, with all the team members, every all the solo riders uh that are participating in this right now, uh, these are the teams we have all of the riders on all the teams and all the solo riders collectively have gathered over twelve hundred attractions. Roadside attractions across the country. So it's pretty amazing when you think about it that there's how give you an idea how much there is out there. Most of the a lot of the staywaters, a lot of the uh attractions are coming out of California.
SPEAKER_05That's one of the largest.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, getting a lot out of California.
SPEAKER_05How many of those podcasts are out of California?
SPEAKER_02Uh okay, we got uh these guys here, Lanas for pipe chasers. These guys are East Coast, uh North North Carolina, but they have some of their team members. See, uh John is North Carolina, Chad is Texas, uh Chris is Pennsylvania, Rich is North Carolina, Dave Shoop is Pennsylvania, Eric Bishop. I think he is I think he's California, I'm not sure. Uh Roadside Rebels, uh their people are all I think mostly California. The Goon Platoon, those guys are all California, just about I think one other guys might be from Georgia. And uh Moto 1 EU O S, uh, they're from California also. Mountain Hogs, these guys are in Utah. So yeah. It's going really cool right now. And what else? Uh do I have any photos to show you? No, I don't. So the bonus attraction things are going really well. These guys are gathering up the attractions and all that. Uh you know, some five and ten point attractions, these guys are gathering up. And they're hitting it, man. I'll tell you what, some of the solos are just doing a kick-ass job, too. The solos are doing really great. Um a couple of them, uh, 07 and 08. These two guys right here. They uh they left out of Tennessee and they headed west and northwest, and all I did was hit bonus attractions the entire way. That's all they did, just hit the bonus attractions. So these people, they're having a great time.
SPEAKER_04How come one has 66 attractions but 89 points?
SPEAKER_02Well, see, that's just it. Uh if the mo all the how do I explain this? Most of the attractions are one point attractions. But there are bonus attractions that are worth worth five points and ten points. So they may gather an attraction, but the point value is gonna give them a higher score. So that's the that's the way it's going. And it's it's really been really I tell you what, what an undertaking this has been. Uh, because on weekends, usually on weekends, I get swamped with up to uh well one time I had almost 200 submissions in a weekend. Uh but most of the time I'm getting uh most of the time I'm getting about Hello! I've been getting about 75 to 100 submissions in a weekend lately. And during the week I don't get very many many during the week because obviously because people are working right now. Hey Chris. How you doing? What's new and exciting?
SPEAKER_03Nothing. Nothing.
SPEAKER_02Lovely. So anyway. But that's uh what's going on with that. Uh we get let me put back up the uh the Sturgis page so you guys can watch what's going on in Sturgis.
SPEAKER_03You know, I was just watching something in Sturgis.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, this is uh Main Street in Sturgis right now. That's up on the screen. But yeah, things are things are cool. And uh that's it. How you doing, Chrissy? What you went up to?
SPEAKER_03Nothing. Working, that's it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, cool. Get any writing in. Oh well, okay. Nice and nice and hot there, right? Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, uh, just a couple things we can touch on. Do you want to do business first? Or yeah, we can just Chris just came in, so we'll just we'll just do some some stuff. Hey, uh, so what's that?
SPEAKER_03Do your thing.
SPEAKER_02Do my thing. So I found three articles that I wanted to share with you guys. And um I just thought I wanted to get your your your sh uh opinions on them and just your thoughts. Uh we have three articles. The ugliest HDs, the coolest looking factory HDs, and the most underrated Harley Davidson's. So I just thought this would be pretty interesting, something to share. So let's what do you want to start with? The ugliest, the coolest, or the most underrated? What do you want to start with?
SPEAKER_03Uh ugliest. Yeah, I want to see, I want to see what they deem ugliest.
SPEAKER_02The ugliest. Let's start with the ugliest uh Harley Davidson's. Okay, let me just stop sharing this and start sharing the other screen. Worst looking Harley Davidson's ever. I don't know, but that's that's that's a bold claim. That's a very bold claim. So here we go. The 2009 road glide. I d I don't know. How big should a motorcycle be? We don't know the exact answer to that, but we know one.
SPEAKER_03We got a problem with that particular year.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the 2009 road glide was too big. How big is it? It's so big it might be as well be a car. It's not a low-riding hot, but certainly not a zippy crotch rocket either. It's the SUV of motorcycles, and that's not a compliment.
SPEAKER_03A guy that works in a company next to my company. Yeah. He's got like a 2014 road glide. The fucking thing is a goddamn monster. What the fuck are they talking about?
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I don't know why they think that's ugly. I don't really don't get it. Uh the XR 1200. Now, I don't think this is ugly at all. Well, I don't know. I never thought the XR 1200 was ugly.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, that's pretty fucking ugly, I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_02You think so?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Do we lose Justin?
SPEAKER_05No, it's just like a cafe racer.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a Sportster with a different kind of body style. That's all it is. That's all it is.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that looks pretty ugly. I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_02And yeah, let me tell you something about the XR 1200. It's a lot smaller than I thought it was. I get it. It's the Sportster frame, but it just looks bigger than it really is. Because I sat, I was like, why does this feel so small? But I don't know. I think the XR 1200 is a cool bike. I don't know. I I think the red is a horrible color for it. The black and the white is much better looking.
SPEAKER_01Maybe that's it. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And uh the set 1977 Confederate Edition Sportster. They released the Liberty Edition. It's an aesthetic upgrade of its Super Glide and Electroglide models intended to mark the passing of the America's bicentennial. The bike featured sh uh striking graphics and celebrated America in the time of her 200th birthday. So they came out with a Confederate edition, and you can probably see what the problem is with that. Not to get political or anything, but the Confederate States of America infamously fought a war against the United States, resulting in uh blah blah blah into all the politics of that bullshit. Anyway, I what's that a 76? Oh, it's a 76. That's an Iron Head Sportster, so I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Just bland looking.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, very bland. Yeah, I can agree with that. And then the Topper.
SPEAKER_03Oh that Natal looks fun. I'd ride the shit out of that one.
SPEAKER_021960 Topper. It's a it's a it's I'll tell you what, you know, it for a it's a bizarre looking scooter. I don't know. You ever seen one of these, Justin?
SPEAKER_05I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02You don't think you've ever seen one of these? That's for the capital L. Yeah. This is the exact one that they show that that they have in the Harley Davidson Museum. And uh Yeah. I don't know what they were thinking design-wise. I don't know, maybe they just didn't have the same people working there. I don't know. The XLCR Cafe Racer.
SPEAKER_05I think this guy just doesn't like Cafe Racer.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I I I guess. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. It's a 77 debut that this came out. Um I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I I think anytime you have a a thing like this where it's being judged, it's it's very subjective. Of course it is. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Oh yeah, right. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02They only uh I'm just writing an article, that's all thousand of these were made. How about that? In fact, did you guys see the um the most recent photographs of and videos of the Harley Davidson uh I guess you can call it sport bike that was out. They had it out at some rally and they were premiering it, and it was on a s it was on a stand, and they had it running and all that. It it almost looked like this. Almost looked like the XL XLCR. Almost. Yeah, I don't know. Sorry if I'm boring you guys. I'm sorry. Uh the 2019 LiveWire Project Electric Motorcycle, I don't think the bike is ugly.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. A lot of people pick on a live wire, nothing, you know.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I don't I don't think it's ugly. I and I've ridden a bike uh just a couple times.
SPEAKER_03People just can't wrap their heads around Harley making a bike like that.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I don't know. I don't even know how the company is doing. I never I've never looked into it. But uh I don't know. I didn't think the bike was ugly, I thought it was pretty cool. The 74Z90.
SPEAKER_04There we go. There you go. That's it.
SPEAKER_02See?
SPEAKER_04All gotta get those.
SPEAKER_02That thing.
SPEAKER_04That is awesome, dude. Totally sweet.
SPEAKER_02That's awesome. I wish they still made something like that.
SPEAKER_05Because when I was little, I always wanted a minibike. Dude, if they if they sold that thing for like three grand, oh my god, are you kidding me? It would be all over the place.
SPEAKER_02Hell yes. It would be. It would be all they gotta get smart.
SPEAKER_05That would put like a fucking 50cc motor in it. Yeah. And just fucking sell the snot out of it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. They should make a fat boy that small.
SPEAKER_02Well, why not? Would it be called the little boy?
SPEAKER_04Right, the little boy, right? There you go. That'll work. That'll be funny. That'd be funny shit to drive.
SPEAKER_02Street 750. Yes, I agree with this. This is ugly. This is horrible.
SPEAKER_03That one got picked on relentlessly. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what they were trying to appeal to a different audience, and it didn't appeal to anybody, actually. Uh the V Rod, which I absolutely 100% disagree with. This is a sexy bike.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's I'm always shocked to hear that a lot of people just pick on the V-Rod, too. I don't get it. That's bike. It's pretty sharp looking.
SPEAKER_05It doesn't like it it looks like it can be cousins with the live wire.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a little bit of it. Yeah, it's the framework. It's the Trellis framework that does it. That's why. But uh I'm sorry, man. The V-Rod is a sexy bike, and it's just if you ever guys ever get a chance to, it's on it's on YouTube. You can watch the documentary on the creation of the V-Rod. It's really super interesting. It's about, I guess it's almost an hour long, but it's a worthwhile watch what uh what they did to go through to make this bike. And it was really, really fascinating. I'm telling you, if if I buy ever buy another motorcycle, it's gonna be a V-ROD.
SPEAKER_05What do you mean if that's like saying if he goes to Sturgis? This is like that same bullshit about oh, if I go to Sturgis, and then all of a sudden it's like, oh well, I bought a uh a camping truck bed tent thing. He did buy a camper with a fucking satellite dish for the top of the ranger. You know he did buy a camper, you know that, right? I know. Yeah, so the next step is Sturgis.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, I've been looking into it.
SPEAKER_04He's gonna pick you up first. He's gonna pick you up on a way.
SPEAKER_02I've I've been looking into it.
SPEAKER_05You know, it's just there's some, there's some what's And I'm sure there's I'm sure there's a V-rod somewhere for sale on the way.
SPEAKER_02Uh, you know, it's as broke as I am. Now listen, every motorcyclist does this. Everyone regardless of how broke you are, regardless of how many motorcycles you have, you're always looking at the one ads, you're always looking at cycle trader or whatever, you're always looking at motorcycles. You always are. It's just a thing, right? I'm always looking. Uh I'm cycle trader or whatever. I'm looking at V-Rods. I I've I must have like 30 of them in my watch list. So yeah, I don't know. It's a thing, it's a sickness, right? But anyway, so I disagree with this. I don't think I think the V-ROD is gorgeous. That's my point. Harley Davidson model number one. These people are just on drugs. I think they're just looking for something to hate.
SPEAKER_04That's that's that's the first like one of the first iterations of the Harley. Why would you pick on it? I they think it's on. That makes no sense.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that doesn't make any sense because that literally, the what you just said. I mean, that's the fuck, it's the first Harley. It started at all.
SPEAKER_04That's the only thing they knew about bikes at that point. Is that frame?
SPEAKER_02It's a it's a bicycle with a motor. It's a bicycle with a motor. Yeah, exactly. It's a bicycle with a motor.
SPEAKER_04How do you pick on it?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I when when I went to the Harley Davidson Museum, it was I was awestruck through the entire time I walked through that place. And just to see these original bikes from I mean the from the very first one, this one here, uh, which is in the museum, by the way. And right through, you know, 1903, 1904, all the way up, every single year, they had an example of every single year motorcycle from the beginning to current. And how can you I I don't know. I you just can't say something like this is ugly.
SPEAKER_04You know, yeah, it's right, because it's it's it's ugly to our standards now. Yeah, exactly. Not not ugly when it was made. Right, exactly.
SPEAKER_05I don't know, I still think it's kind of cool.
SPEAKER_04It is absolutely cool. Yeah, but I'm just saying that's what I'm saying, what they're going by.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly. Uh moving on to the next thing. Let's move on to oh, I closed the wrong thing. Very good, Ted. You're a smart little fella. Good job. Uh the coolest looking factory HDs. Let's do that.
SPEAKER_05Is it written by the same guy?
SPEAKER_02No, no, no. This is coming on from the Harley Davidson Forums. Coolest looking. So right now they're showing uh the first one here, they're showing the the deluxe right here, they're showing. Which, Justin, you had one of these, right?
SPEAKER_05I did.
SPEAKER_02Which year what year was yours?
SPEAKER_05When I was on the 08.
SPEAKER_02There's an 08. I think the uh deluxe is cool. Actually, it's kind of like it's a heritage classic without the bags and the windshield.
SPEAKER_03I think it's cool looking.
SPEAKER_02Ah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's a deluxe, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, what's that?
SPEAKER_03That was a deluxe. I like that bike. Hey, that was always one of my favorites. Very nice bike.
SPEAKER_02Deluxe is a wake.
SPEAKER_03Why did they stop making that one?
SPEAKER_02Who knows? It could be any number of reasons. You know, the sale, I think sales drives the decision every time.
SPEAKER_04And it was a very popular bike though, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_02Uh I I don't think it's it was any more popular than any of the other ones.
SPEAKER_03Just in the case, yeah, I don't think it I don't think it stood up, but stood out in the only complaint I could see people making about it was it's very heritage-y.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Possibly. Like I said, you throw you throw a windshield on there and some bags, and you're you got a heritage. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03What's wrong with that?
SPEAKER_05What's wrong with a heritage? Nothing's wrong with that heritage. Oh, nothing. But I think that was the issue. It's like for essentially the same price.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was a stripped-down heritage.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, right. So it's like by the time you put windshields in a bag and you know, a passenger seat on it, it's like you might as well just get a fucking heritage in there.
SPEAKER_02Next we have the 1936 EL Knucklehead. The coolest looking factory motorcycle. You know, I I I kind of I kind of dig the knucklehead, but I tell you what, I would I would go with the early the next model earlier. I think it was the I think it was the uh was the it was a flathead. I can't remember which one it was called. It was the flathead. Actually, actually, Dale's Wheels of Time, they're giving away a knucklehead in this same color, and the year before is a 35 or 34, the giving away. The 34 has the uh flathead. But that's a cool looking motorcycle, man. That this is the kind of bike you you enter in, like the uh what is it what's it called? The the cannonball that has the the motorcycle cannonball. And it's all vintage motorcycles from 1936 or earlier that goes across the country. Hell yes. Absolutely. Next, the 48 Hydroglide.
SPEAKER_01I I like that with the panhandle. I like it.
SPEAKER_02I've never started a bike with a kickstart, have you, Justin? Yeah. Is that fun?
SPEAKER_05I mean it's different.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05You know, I mean provided it starts on a first kick.
SPEAKER_02Well, I was gonna say Or does it launch you over to the heliborns?
SPEAKER_05Well, no. If if the if the piston's in the wrong spot. Yeah It's it can be finicky. You know what I mean? It it does depend on, you know, like you know, sometimes you get a first or second kick, other times you're just sitting there like hopping up and down the thing like an asshole.
SPEAKER_02Forgetting all these uh things from too. Cool. Uh next bike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, cool.
SPEAKER_02Next one is the 1958 Duo Glide. That's pretty like that.
SPEAKER_04That's really pretty. Very pretty bike. They used to use different colors. They used to do two tones. They don't do two tones anymore.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they I don't know. They just see this funny bike.
SPEAKER_04That's where the bikes looked really sharp.
SPEAKER_02Look at that horn, size of that frickin' horn that's on here.
SPEAKER_01It should be.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And next they got the 1977 FSX FXS Lowrider.
SPEAKER_01Somebody that had one of those.
SPEAKER_02You know what funny thing is, I did too. When I was in the Navy and I was stationed down in Guantanamo, uh, one of the guys that worked in the hangar, he was uh he was he outranked me. He he ordered one of these. This is back in the day when you had to order your Harley Davidson and wait for it. He ordered his and had it delivered to Guantanamo. And uh it was silver, and he I can remember him riding around. You know, there wasn't a lot, it wasn't a lot of roads in Guantanamo, but he rode all over the base with that thing. Man, it was it was really cool back in the day. Uh next we got the uh 1990 Fat Boy.
SPEAKER_04Yep, of course.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
unknownRight?
SPEAKER_04Everybody the first year of the Fat Boy?
SPEAKER_03It says it right in there. That became popular after Terminator 2.
SPEAKER_02Yep. The very first one. The Fat Boy. Everybody loves a fat boy.
SPEAKER_03Uh easy. That's the that's when I fell in love with the fat boy.
SPEAKER_02You think you think that if if it wasn't for that movie, this bike would even exist? That is horrible. Or or would it even put it this way? Like, say the popularity. Right, exactly. Yes, say like, you know, the bike came out, but it was never in the movie. Do you think it would still be as popular?
SPEAKER_03Probably not, because our I mean, uh, Terminator 2 made that bike just thing to have. Yeah, just threw it out there, man. Like, I mean, that was a big one. Having Arnold or riding a bike the whole movie? For fuck's sake, holy shit. You couldn't ask you couldn't ask for a better commercial.
SPEAKER_01I guess not. No. Uh the 2009.
SPEAKER_03They tried that later on with other bikes and it did not work. No, it didn't. That's because they it was an Arnold.
SPEAKER_02Was it Arnold?
SPEAKER_03Arnold.
SPEAKER_02The 2009 CVO Soft Tails Springer. We know somebody out there.
SPEAKER_03That's my second favorite bike. I always like the Springer. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So so does apparently uh Dave Ackerman over at Tobacco Motorware. And he has like four of them.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. I like that Springer for an end. It was always cool looking.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. They're pricey. They're pricey. But uh yeah.
SPEAKER_03They stopped making them what year?
SPEAKER_02I can't remember how many years they ran that.
SPEAKER_03I think that that was that that's probably.
SPEAKER_05Like 2013 or something like that.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they didn't have a lot of things. It's the crossbones. They made a crossbones.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that's right. I remember that. Like 20, I think it was like 2013.
unknownSomething like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Next, we got the 2018 Softail Deluxe. Right. Nice. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's the other one. I love that bike. That's a nice bike. That's a good looking bike, man. We already went over that.
SPEAKER_02And next, the Lowrider ST. I've had the chance to ride this. I didn't care for it.
SPEAKER_03What about it? Matt and Lex had had those bikes.
SPEAKER_02They had the lowrider ST?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02What I didn't care for. Now I I'm a lanky, tall, lanky dude, right? And I got the I got long legs. So like when I sat on this thing, I felt that my legs were my knees were above the tank. So if you know, if you're a tall dude, you might have to reconfigure the foot controls to make it a little more comfortable.
SPEAKER_05Well, because they have a mid-control on it, but they they sit like a little bit higher, so you can ride it marked in the city. Exactly. You think it's geared more towards women?
SPEAKER_02No, no, I don't think it's that. You know, I think it's just that the way it's uh it's it's more of a performance bike. Yeah, that's why they have the the pegs like they do. I mean, if you were to throw forward controls on it, it might be a little better, or put floorboards on it, but then it kind of defeats the purpose of the ST.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was a high bike.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it is. And it, like I said, for me, I was I was uncomfortable on it because of the way I had to sit on it. But uh our friend Chris Connolly, who is doing the challenge and a couple other things, he that he that's what he does. That's what he has this bike. And he's been doing the motorcycle podcasters challenge on his low rider ST. Next bike over is the 2024 CVO Road Glide ST. This is a nice bike. I've ridden this one.
SPEAKER_01It's pretty looking. It's a nice bike. It's a shitty picture.
SPEAKER_02It's a shitty picture, but it is a nice bike. It's uh you know, it's getting that that about the road glide, Chris. We had this conversation once before. Uh that front fairing, it's that's hard to get used to.
SPEAKER_03I never liked this bike. Yeah, when I test rode it, it that's the one thing that bothered me. It was just it felt like a big car fairing, you know, like a dashboard in front of me.
SPEAKER_02Well, I think it's because it's way out there. Yeah. It's way out in front of you. But I I don't, it's I I think it's the it's a it's a big certainly is a bigger fairing than the uh streak glide. It's probably one of the things that's gonna be a good thing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, way bigger, because I I like the street glide. I thought the streak glide was cool. I thought the road glide, I thought that fairing was just gigantic.
SPEAKER_02But I gotta tell you, the stability of the bike on the road with that fairing like that is great because you don't feel it's kind of like that, it's got that scooter thing going on where your bike's facing forward and you're turning and it's still facing forward. So it's kind of goofy. And finally, the uh 2025 Street Glide Ultra.
SPEAKER_03Nice.
SPEAKER_02That is a big bike.
SPEAKER_03But see, look at the fairing on it. See how much smaller that is than the road, the road glide?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_04How is that any different than a uh an electroglide?
SPEAKER_02It's it's not, it's the same bike with a different name, that's all.
SPEAKER_04I I don't know. If you showed me electroglide right next to that, it would look the same to me.
SPEAKER_05Because it is, it's not it it is it's it's an electroglide.
SPEAKER_02When did they stop calling when did they stop using the name Electroglide? I don't remember. I think it was like 2020.
SPEAKER_05What it was was there was the Electroglide Limited and there's the Electroglide Ultra.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05And then they just started calling it either the Ultra or the Limited. Or the Limited.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02But it's Ultra Glide. It's Electroglide, that's what that's where it's. But now actually now it's just Street Glide, yeah. They just call it the Street Glide Ultra, and that's it. But it's it's the Electroglide. So there you go, there's that.
SPEAKER_04So what is that all they're calling the electric light now? They're just calling them uh limited and uh Yeah. Really? That's all they call them.
SPEAKER_05It was basically just indicative of what package it had. Trim package.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04They used to call it the full dresser. Maybe they could get a full dresser.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, back in the day, man. That's what they call the it's a dresser, man. It's totally a dresser. Let's go back to the uh let's go back to the let's see what's happening on Main Street in Sturgis again.
SPEAKER_03Well, it's funny, somebody the younger generation, I've actually heard it to this day. Those full dressers, they the younger generation, some of them, not all, but I've heard some of the younger generation call it an old man bike.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, of course. Of course you're gonna you're gonna have that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, until they ride one.
SPEAKER_02Until they ride one, then they go, you know, because everybody gets that, everybody's gonna get to that point. Anybody who rides a sport bike, anybody who rides a wood, they're all gonna get to that point. They're gonna say, I need something a little more comfortable. My back, whatever, my legs, my arm, my elbow, whatever. And you're gonna find yourself on a cruiser, and then then then everybody's gonna be laughing at you, and you're gonna just go, shut up.
SPEAKER_04So it's an old man bike only because they they couldn't handle it. Doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of people there.
SPEAKER_02Well, uh, right now it is it's uh they're they're two hours behind, so it's it's 628. Everybody's eating dinner, everybody's chilling, everybody's back at their campsites, probably recovering from the shitty weather they've been having. Um I don't know if you heard Chris, but they've been having extremely bizarre weather out there.
SPEAKER_03They had Yeah I saw a video with the hail of uh the hail. Yeah. The guy standing underneath the tree and Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Just to give you an idea, the hail was about a half inch in diameter.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it looked big. Not good for your bike.
SPEAKER_02Not good for you.
SPEAKER_03Wonder how many people's bikes got dented to I bet you a lot.
SPEAKER_02I bet you a lot of 'em. You know, you we're talking about a a piece of ice. Like a half inch in diameter, or even a quarter, even a three-eighth in diameter. Sla coming coming down at you, falling at terminal velocity, and slamming you into. I'll tell you something. That frickin' hurts. I bet. That hurts. When I rode out to Sturgis in 23, I hit a hail storm in Nebraska. And let me tell you, that wasn't fun.
SPEAKER_03It's pretty chilly out there. I see dudes wearing sweatshirts.
SPEAKER_02Well, they are at altitude out there. They're a little higher up. And like I said, it's been cool. It's been a little cool out there. I mean, they're getting hail. Come on. So. Oh my god. But yeah. It's nice thing. This is the 86th. So uh we'll be at we'll we'll be at the 87th, right?
SPEAKER_03Let's do our podcast right in the center of that intersection.
SPEAKER_02Right there, right then the intersection.
SPEAKER_03Right in the center.
SPEAKER_02That'd be cool, man, if we could do that. If we could all go to Sturgis and do a podcast from Sturgis, that would be so freaking cool.
SPEAKER_05I would be so distracted.
SPEAKER_02Why would why would that be?
SPEAKER_03See that? See that green stop thing right there? Where the the guy right there? That's we should do the podcast right there.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Right there. Yeah, we're right in the middle of the road. Sure. Why not?
SPEAKER_05That lady roller skate and just got yelled up by that cop.
SPEAKER_02Did she really?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Get out of the road! Probably. I don't know. Yeah, you see you see a lot of cool stuff there, that's for sure. See the fun stuff like that. They're right there. You gotta look at that. There's a V uh V6 motorcycle right there.
SPEAKER_03That was a Honda uh the Gold Wing right there. Gold wing that went through.
SPEAKER_02It's like 90% Harley's. Yeah. See, this is the this is the the east end of the street.
SPEAKER_03That bike, uh that bike right there behind that, that looks like a Triumph uh that six uh V6 that they got. That six-cylinder bike.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I don't know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That looks like a Detroit six-cylinder.
SPEAKER_05Justin, is that where is that where you went? Were you were you uh were you grabbing a couple uh burgers and and beers at the fireside lounge?
SPEAKER_02No, dude. Man, you know what? Let me tell you something. You know, you go you go to Sturgis, and if you if you if your plan is to eat in town, you better bring some cash with you, man. You better bring some bucks. It's fucking expensive, dude. Way expensive. I mean, I I seen one vendor on the street was selling a burger, uh, a cheeseburger and a Coke for 20 bucks.
SPEAKER_03So it's like you go into the Meadowlands and watch football.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, exactly. Exactly. It's it's really it's great.
SPEAKER_05They know they got a captive audience.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, absolutely. And you know what? They get it. They they do get it. They make their money. But at the same time, they got to sell a lot because the town of Sturgis charges them taxes on everything they sell. Plus, the town also charges them for the space they're renting. There goes the Dolic right there.
SPEAKER_03Look at the stupid beach bars he had on it. Oh my god. That's a nice colour right there. Yeah, I like that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Sharp looking. Wow.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, moving on to the next topic, we have the Lex and Finals topic. We're gonna go into the most underrated Harley Davidson.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna get into that.
SPEAKER_02Anyway. Bullshit. Bullshit, sure. We're also gonna there's something else we're gonna talk about too. Most under ten ten most underrated Harleys ever built. Starting up XR twelve hundred. So it makes two lists.
SPEAKER_03The wheels on it really, really hurt that bike.
SPEAKER_02It looked too small. Exactly. They cast wheels, you know. I don't know. So it makes it makes the wow, that's funny. I still got the feed going up. Some guy goes by and he has a uh looks like he had a Tupperware case on his back for his top box. Anyway, um, yeah, so this bike made the ugliest list and the most underrated list.
SPEAKER_04How is that? I still think that's not the AMF, is it?
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_03I guarantee, I guarantee you the fat boy will be on this list. Guaranteed.
SPEAKER_02I don't know about that. I don't know. I haven't live and looked through it. It might be, you never know. Uh the Super Glide Sport. The FXDX. Bland. 1999 to 2005. I was never a fan of, and I'm gonna get some hate from this, but I was never a fan of the Dyna line. Just wasn't.
SPEAKER_04Very plain looking.
SPEAKER_02No, I just felt that they were just larger sportsters. Excuse me, but that's what I that's what I felt.
SPEAKER_05So well, they're basically they are.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so uh next we got the Rogue Road King Custom, the F L H R S. I couldn't say that. Um headlight. I don't know. It ain't that bad. Sorry. It's all right. It's alright. I don't like the two to one exhaust. Never care for it. Uh the V-Rod muscle. I disagree with that. I don't know. Actually, I kind of do agree with this. This it is kind of underrated. Uh, I had the chance to ride one of these up at uh Americaid one year we went. It was uh a cool ass bike. I just it's got it had this great rumble to it. It just had a it just had this hot rod sound to it. It was really cool. I liked it. It's definitely underrated, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_03Next, another bike they don't make.
SPEAKER_02The Heritage Soft Hell Classic. Underrated? Do you agree that's would you say I don't I don't know that it's underrated.
SPEAKER_03It's not underrated. I mean, I like the bike. I think it's a particular uh paint scheme. I'm not a fan of it.
SPEAKER_02No, I don't like that. I'm not a fan of the denim paint. Not a fan of the pink. In fact, that new color they have, that that turquoise and black is gorgeous, man. Wow, gorgeous bike. But that's the number on the bike. Yeah. Uh the street rod. This is a V-rod version that they made into a with the taller, it's got taller. It is very bizarre. It had uh, you know, it was taller, uh, taller seat, upgraded suspension for sharper tier steering geometry. I I didn't care for it personally, but I, you know, was it underrated? I don't know. I don't know. The Dyna switchback. Never I didn't I never cared for this one. I mostly because I don't care for the wheels. Kind of like these mag wheels kind of a thing.
SPEAKER_03I never they're kind of ugly.
SPEAKER_02They are kind of ugly. So this should have made the ugly list, probably.
SPEAKER_03The bike looks like it wants to be a heritage and a fat boy and a uh classic and uh Yeah, it's because it's got the freight train headlight and it's got these weird wants to be all these kind of different bikes.
SPEAKER_05Well, it allowed you to it allowed that's exactly that was exactly the point. So you you could take the windshield and the saddlebags on very on and off. They're all quick release, so you could basically have two different bikes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I suppose. I suppose. I know uh I knew a guy who had a switchback, and he had he ended up getting rid of it after a crash, but yeah. Uh the night rod special. Dudes, this bike was badass. I had a chance to ride this up at the American. It's called a V-Rod. It is a V-Rod, but it's called the Night Rod Special because they blacked it out completely and they put the different exhaust on it and uh different tail fin on there. Man, this bike was badass. I really like this one. It was great. I really liked the bike. Very zoomy, I'll tell you that. That's for sure.
SPEAKER_03Wasn't that their fastest production bike?
SPEAKER_02Hmm. Possibly. And the Super Low, the Sportster Superlow. I didn't care for it. It looks cute. It it it was it was very low. They had the slam suspension in the back.
SPEAKER_05I sold a ton of those.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's probably why.
SPEAKER_03This is not popular because it looks cute.
SPEAKER_02You did sell a lot of these, did you? Yeah, wow. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Looks like a squat bike.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Like a squat bike up.
SPEAKER_03Looks like somebody put it in a uh uh uh uh car crusher and shortened it up a little bit.
SPEAKER_04Like somebody sat fat fat on the back of the electric glide standard.
SPEAKER_02You're talking about the electriclide. There you go. The standard that was like uh like four glide, four or five years ago, right?
SPEAKER_06Three glide.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, underrated, okay. And that's it. That was the entire list. So there you go.
SPEAKER_04Interesting.
SPEAKER_02I don't know about that, but you know, it was just something to share with you guys. I thought you would find it in enjoying and interesting.
SPEAKER_03And what had I'm surprised the fat blood wasn't on it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. I'm glad it wasn't, you know. Glad it wasn't. Let's go back to the stur downtown sturgis and see what's going on.
SPEAKER_04Downtown stoyges. Yeah, let's go back there. That's the only camera they have.
SPEAKER_02They might have another one, but honestly, I didn't really look. I just got this one up and I just left it. So but uh yeah, you see everybody's wearing jackets and stuff, so it must be a little chill. People are wearing shorts.
SPEAKER_05But it probably also depends on where you're from.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's true too. You better if you're from Florida, you know, being up there is probably uh you know very chilly. Reason up there.
SPEAKER_03It probably should point to probably the people that live there, it's probably nothing to them.
SPEAKER_02Probably not. Uh let's see.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's like the stupid beach. I like that. I like those colors. Those colors are nice. That that girl there that's got the one behind it.
SPEAKER_02Well, right now, in right now in Sturgis, it is uh 70 degrees.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's why, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so that's beautiful.
SPEAKER_03That's beautiful, right?
SPEAKER_02With the 60% chance of the. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, of course. Um, yeah, but I think uh I it's it's it's really cool to see this because I, you know, I would I've been there and I've experienced this.
SPEAKER_03Did you walk there?
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's that?
SPEAKER_03Did you walk there removing the colour? Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I walked the entire I walked the entire street up and down. Both sides, everything. Yeah, I did that.
SPEAKER_04Is this Deadwood?
SPEAKER_02No, no, no. This is downtown Sturgis.
unknownCool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I thought a lot of stuff goes on in Deadwood.
SPEAKER_02Uh yes, Deadwood's got one main street where it's kind of like it's kind of like this. You got bikes parked both both sides of the street, and it's there's a lot going on. Sturgis, uh uh Deadwood is a really cool little town. A lot of cool stuff in Deadwood. Um but yeah, this is what it's not as busy. Is there a live band up there or no? Yeah, yeah, right there on that on that little stage. They do live bands in the afternoon, usually. Um sometime in the night too, they do do shows. But uh, yeah, this is pretty cool. The um Sturgis Hall of Fame is down the other end of the street. That's a pretty cool place to go hang out. Yeah. So I'm gonna do business real quick. Bennett, we don't get into some Bennett. Why is he not playing? I always have this trouble. I don't know why I have this trouble. Why do I have this trouble? Bennett, where is it? You know, it should be playing.
SPEAKER_04It's all Justin's fault.
SPEAKER_02It's all just my fault.
SPEAKER_05It's all just as well.

The big leather store that's there. And next to a gas station also.
SPEAKER_03Well, he has the uh uh thing set up?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's got a booth there. Yeah. Okay. So he's there. And um yeah. He uh he was asking me if I was gonna come up. No, I wasn't. No, sorry.
SPEAKER_04Does he do good when he goes there? Does he sell it?
SPEAKER_02Uh he never really got into it, but uh I am I imagine he he does. He sells stuff. He's got to.
SPEAKER_04How's the pizza there, Ted?
SPEAKER_02What's that? How's the pizza there? Dude, that golden pan pizza place right there? Yeah. Freaking kick ass pizza, dudes. I'm telling you, it was freaking phenomenal.
SPEAKER_03Against the East Coast?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I'm telling you, I don't know where these guys are come from or whatever.
SPEAKER_05Man, but their pizza was I think you've been I think you've been out of New Jersey too long, buddy.
SPEAKER_02No, man, their pizza was frickin' phenomenal. It was great.
SPEAKER_05No, I'm just kidding. Actually, when I was down in uh when I was down in Daytona, um at the time, there was a guy whose car I used to work on. And uh I told him I was going down to Daytona, and he was like, my brother has a restaurant down there in Ormond Beach. He was like, he used to own a restaurant. He owned a restaur an Italian restaurant in New Jersey for the longest time. He's like when he moved to Florida, he opened up a restaurant down there, and so he was like, go see him. And we went down there and we saw him, and the food tasted just like it would have tasted up here. Wow.
SPEAKER_02See? You can find it, but you know what? I mean, we found there's a pizza place down here by us, and the guy is from Jersey, and that's Joey's, right?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but it's still not as good as it's I mean, it's not gonna be perfect.
SPEAKER_02But you know what? My neighbor keeps telling me that there's a place called Coast, Coastal Pizza, a little further south, down in South Carolina somewhere, that's really, really good's better. So I'm like, look, I mean, I'm sorry, but Joey O's is great, I like it. It's great.
SPEAKER_03No, it's possible. Like, I mean, if you get like Jersey transplants down, then they'll they'll bring the you know, they'll bring the good pizza.
SPEAKER_02Of course, they also say it's you know it's the water. I mean, I don't know about that. And rusty pipes, maybe? Who knows? I have no idea.
SPEAKER_04And the soil too. What kind of bike is that one?
SPEAKER_02That's an Indian right there, the blue one? Yeah, that's an Indian. How many bars do you think are on Main Street? All of them. Yeah. All of them. That's a good question. Like, let me just let's just ask the question and see if we can get a decent answer. All right. So, how many uh bars are on Main Street in Sturgis? Uh Seth the car. Oh, what's what's your guess? What's your guess? Let's take your guesses.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna say 74.
SPEAKER_0274?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Justin, what do you think?
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna say eight.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna say eight.
SPEAKER_05All right, fuck. I was gonna say eight, so now I feel like I gotta say something else. Uh 12.
SPEAKER_0212. Okay. I'm gonna say there is 16. And the answer is uh hang on. Let's crawl it up. Here we go. Oh, there are about six to eight bars directly on or immediately adjacent to Main Street. Depending on how you count brew pubs and all that stuff like that. Six to eight.
SPEAKER_03That's it.
SPEAKER_02Two, two, three, four, five. Yeah, I guarantee you they're all packed. Iron Horse Saloon, uh, Knuckle Brewing Company, the Knuckle Saloon, uh, Loud American Roadhouse, Whiskey Tango, Foxtrot, uh, Oasis Bar, which is right across, we just saw that one. One-eyed Jacks, the Dungeon Bar and Gentleman's Club. That's what's on Main Street. But uh, if you go off of Main Street, uh what the hell's the name of that other street? It's got a really bizarre name. Um, how about this? Okay, let's let's ask this question. That's a better question. How many bars are in South Dakota? In not South Dakota, in Sturgis.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02How many?
SPEAKER_04Well, now is full throttle going to be considered a bar?
SPEAKER_03I would say so, right? It's good. It got a shit ton of bars inside of it.
SPEAKER_00Maybe.
SPEAKER_03Is that one bar?
SPEAKER_04I don't know, that's the whole thing. It's like that one, what's the other one?
SPEAKER_02Well, the Buffalo Chip?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Buffalo.
SPEAKER_02It's not well, see, those are full throttle and buffalo chip, they're campgrounds. But they do have bars there. So I don't know if you can even count them.
SPEAKER_03And that's where they have the really big bands.
SPEAKER_02That's where everything, yeah, at full throttle and at uh Buffalo Chip. All right, so how many bars do you think are in uh Sturgis? Not just mainstream, but in Sturgis. 25. 25. Okay. Justin, what do you think?
SPEAKER_0316.
SPEAKER_0216. Uh, Chris, what do you think?
SPEAKER_03I'm going back on my 74. 74.
SPEAKER_02Hey, the correct answer is, let's see, how many bars are in Sturgis, South Dakota? Uh No, this doesn't sound right. Sturgis has about six to ten year-round bars.
SPEAKER_03During the rally, maybe word at total bars.
SPEAKER_02Okay, during the rally, the number of bars explodes to 30 plus.
SPEAKER_03So I went. Wow. I went closer to my number.
SPEAKER_02Rally season total 30 plus, and that varies depending upon uh the temporary bars, the outdoor beer gardens, the concert venue bars, the vendor-run pop-up bars, and multi-bar complexes. Iron horse, full throttle, one-eye jacks. So, yeah. So you uh how many of those have you been to, Sturge, uh, Justin? I'm sure you've been to quite a few.
SPEAKER_05I mean, nowhere near 30 of them. Uh I'm sure. I mean deeper closed. I'm sure I dark. I'm sure I darkened the doorway of a good handful of them.
SPEAKER_02I can honestly say I uh while I was there, I I I'll count full throttle and uh buffalo chip. So I'll count those two. And so three, four. I went into went into five, but I didn't have it, and I didn't have any drinks. I was just in here to hear and listen to the music. So but yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well we could drink it twice, dude. Justin.
SPEAKER_05Yes. Just beer. Yes. It doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Shots, beers, you name it.
SPEAKER_02Actually. See that street right down there where it says Sturgis Salutes America? Yeah. You make a left turn at that street, and Dave is right there on the right hand side. You can't see him? I can't see him. No. I wonder if there's a camera down there. Uh I don't know. I can look up webcams and uh and Sturgis and see what we can find. Webcams, web games, no webcams and Sturgis. Okay, let's see. Uh we got a view from Hotel Sturgis. We got the view from Junction in Maine. We've got a view from Main Street. Oh, live. Here we go. Let's see if we can get this one going.
SPEAKER_03What's the name of the street he's on?
SPEAKER_02The one that they oh, see now I gotta get the map out because I I don't really know the name of the street.
SPEAKER_03City of Sturgis, South Dakota. Webcams in and around Sturgis. What's the name of the street he's on?
SPEAKER_02Uh let me tell you. I I don't know the name of the street. I just know the street. Lazelle is the main street uh across from the One that we see here.
SPEAKER_03Hotel Sturgis. That's the one you're looking at now. Yep. There's one on uh Junction Avenue intersection.
SPEAKER_02He is on where is the Sturgeon?
SPEAKER_03Sturgis Liquor Cam. Watch Lazell Street.
SPEAKER_05What did you say?
SPEAKER_03Lazelle? No, what did Chris say? Sturgis Liquor Cam.
SPEAKER_02You think about liquor cam? He's on Watching Lazell Street.
SPEAKER_05He's on a different website, I think.
SPEAKER_02I-90BL. That's the name of the street? That doesn't sound right.
SPEAKER_03I-90BL?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03First Street. Webcams in and around Sturgis. The city of Sturgis, South Dakota. Now I'm on their website.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03They got three webcams. Only three webcams listed. Uh webcams in and around Sturgis. One is at the uh Lazell Street.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03The main one is on Main Street.
SPEAKER_02Junction Avenue. Look at Junction Avenue.
SPEAKER_03Junction Avenue. Yeah, yeah, Main Street. Watching Main Street and Junction Avenue intersection.
SPEAKER_02Okay, that's the one you want to watch.
SPEAKER_03On the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03We're on Main Street and the one you have on, Ted, that you've been showing us. That's the one at Hotel Sturgis on Main Street. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Yo, Junction and Main.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so that means if you based on what you're saying, that he's on First Street.
SPEAKER_02He is on uh oh wow, how about that? This is it. He's right across the street from Hot Leathers. Let me uh let me change the cam out over here. Hang on. This is just riveting for our home audience who's who's listening to the show.
SPEAKER_05Oh and listen, somebody fell somebody who was listening to the podcast while driving fell asleep and is currently in a dit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um if you make see where this camera's pointing right now. Not like this. It's zoomed out.
SPEAKER_03Live view of Main Street from Tower and Sturgis. It's right in the center of the Sturgis.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, I know where that is. That that's from this view right here. Uh it's down the other end. Now, right where we are here, if you made a right-hand turn, Dave is to our right. That's where he is. He's just to our right. So anyway. But yeah, pretty cool stuff. This is what goes on. Every day while in the rallies. It's winding down. Everybody's having their dinner now. Everybody's back at their campsites, back at their hotels, having dinner, getting ready to go to the concerts. That's what's going on. That's why it's kind of dead. That's what's going on. That's all I'm gonna say. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Who's playing this year? Um everybody.
SPEAKER_02I've only I've been over this a gazillion times. Who's playing tonight? I have no idea who's performing tonight. Uh at the Buffalo Chip.
SPEAKER_05Get that bus.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the Dub Bus. Duh bus, right? No, that's not the bus. Jones, Jones bus. Yeah, Buffalo Chip. Uh, who's playing tonight?
SPEAKER_03Uh Davy Sturgis, Battle of the Bands 2026. Sturgis. Music. Concert lineup of Buffalo Chip. Yeah, I can't remember who's headlining. The chip maybe about heavyweight skillet and P.O.D. Oh, here we go. What?
SPEAKER_02There's Wednesday the 12th.
SPEAKER_03Laney Wilson and Hailstorm are playing. Oh, that's right.
SPEAKER_02Laney Wilson's tonight. Yeah, wow.
SPEAKER_03Leonard Skinnard and Cordell Winter played yesterday. Monday, Skillet and POD played. Sunday, Young Blood and Hairball. Saturday. My cat was there. Yeah. This past Saturday, Megadeth plus BKFC, bare knuckle fighting. Oh, uh last Friday was David Lee Roth, New Damage, and Big Skillet.
SPEAKER_01I wondered how that went over.
SPEAKER_03Uh, I don't know about the other two bands, but all I know is that David Lee Roth needs to fucking retire. I've seen the videos. He is fucking atrocious now.
SPEAKER_02I had heard that he actually canceled all of his tours. Except for I guess he I guess he went to the chip. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Like he's really getting reamed on because he's absolutely I've seen the live videos of him. Absolutely atrocious. He cannot, he cannot do it anymore. Yeah. Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, so those people take it for granted this one.
SPEAKER_02Tomorrow, what do you got? The Buffalo Chip tomorrow. Tomorrow we got uh uh Bands of Town Jimmy's work too. Drowning pool fuel. Dave Worley band is playing. Bands and town. Okay, no, no, no. Mystery just one second festival visit site. That's crazy. Anyway, so yes, so 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th. Tomorrow, collective soul, Buck Cherry, Stereo Chip, Speech City Demons, Toby Keith, Toby Lee, Mustang Sally, Jasmine Cain, Last Train and Juarez, Noise Pollution, the Music of ACDC, Texas Hippie Coalition, Whiskey Rio, and Jackal.
SPEAKER_03Now, this is uh this is what uh this is the line at Buffalo Chip. What's the other uh big place?
SPEAKER_02Full Throttle Saloon.
SPEAKER_03Uh okay. Who's playing at Sturgis All Throttles?
SPEAKER_02Great White is actually playing. Great White. Oh, wow. And you know what's interesting about that? Great White. I think there's only one original member of the band there anymore. So it's is that a tribute band? At that point? Great White.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what what what kind of realistically it is it is them, but you're right. It's really a tribute band. It's really a fucking tribute band.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because there's no original members left anymore.
SPEAKER_02You got Miranda Lambert, if you're into country, she's over at the Full.
SPEAKER_03Jackals playing tomorrow there. Of course they are, because he owns that place, doesn't he? Isn't he card owner? Yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, he is.
SPEAKER_03Insane Clown Posse is tomorrow. I mean Friday. Dirk's Bentley. I've never heard of him.
SPEAKER_02He's a country dude.
SPEAKER_03Hardy on Monday. And next Thursday is Jackal again. There we go. Yeah. They don't have many bands lined up, do they?
SPEAKER_02No, they got quite a few. You know, just uh just maybe not a lot of bands that you've heard we've heard of, or you know, whatever. Uh August 11th, August 12th, Laney Wilson, like you had said. Uh August 12th. Uh Collective Soul is on the 13th. Along with Buck Cherry and still running.
SPEAKER_04They don't have a camera outside Buffalo Chip or the other one, right?
SPEAKER_02Uh don't know. Let me see. Uh girls in the locker room, do they?
SPEAKER_03What's that? Did I that come out loud? I don't mean I think you did. Uh no, they could be scary too, because I see some of these women here that I don't want to.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, right there.
SPEAKER_03Exactly.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Uh you know what? And and I you know, just because clothing companies sell things like fishnet stockings and and tight leather pants and things like that, just some people just should not be wearing that shit.
SPEAKER_04Well, no, they shouldn't be making it certain sizes. Well, you know, over a size six, you gotta stop it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's a certain size where you just like, look, no. And you know, there's a certain age we don't have to be. I can't look. Granted, there are some people in their 50s, 60s, and even 70s who look really freaking great. They look they look good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but it's the people that don't look good.
SPEAKER_02It's the people that don't look good. Let's face it, kids. When you get older, things start to get saggy. Like I'd be the first to admit it. Things start to get saggy, and it's just some shit you just don't want to see, man. It's like it's like it's certainly not in fishnet stockings or you know, leather pants and garter belts. Come on.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you're getting you're getting to the side the the the size where your one tit is as big as Mike Warso at the back. That's mad. I I don't want to see that. You know, you wouldn't we don't want to see I could just put a nipple on my gut and just let it take a picture back and that would be funny.
SPEAKER_04I think you should do it.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Why you no as friends?
SPEAKER_02Oh well, anyway. Uh getting back to podcast stuff. Hey, if you want to support the podcast, I don't know why, but if you did, uh just go to our bias of coffee site and it's on the website. Just go go go to modomnpc.com and there's a bias of coffee thing. And sign up on our mailing list, and you'll you'll get to learn about what's going on like 10 seconds before everybody else. So it's it's it's a good thing. And um has anybody ever bought us the coffee? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've gotten a few. We've gotten a few.
SPEAKER_04Um and it it don't like us that much.
SPEAKER_02They don't like us that much. I mean, it's it's enough that, you know, like if if anybody does donate, which is great, it's not required, but it's appreciated, you know, and and it goes to help keep the lights on. I know some people would like the lights to go off, but you know, uh it it does help, you know, keep the lights on, keep the podcast running. And uh so yeah, I I certainly appreciate it. There's Ed's trailer.
SPEAKER_04How did you get your trailer over there so fast?
SPEAKER_02Uh you know what, man?
SPEAKER_03Um that's a big that's a big nice one, too. Oh shit. Look at that on the bugger.
SPEAKER_02Those things, you know, the fifth wheels are really nice, but they're just I just they're just so freaking big, man. I don't know. They're just so big. Okay. And when I see those things going down the highway, I think, man, oh man, I just like you know, you get a big gust of wind and that thing's falling over.
SPEAKER_01That's what that's a lot I can say. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02But we'll see what happens when I go next year with my trailer. You heard that.
SPEAKER_05We know you're going.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I just don't know about it.
SPEAKER_03But you don't know, Justin, is we're all gonna go.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we're all gonna go. That's it. I just don't know about getting the bike there. That's that's that's that's the hard part.
SPEAKER_03Put it inside your trailer.
SPEAKER_02Can't can't get the bike inside the trailer. Yeah. I can I could uh I could put the sports turn in the back of my truck and then go that way. I could do that. But I'd rather bring the of course I would rather bring the heritage with me or my new V-Rod when I get it. Just a torment, Justin.
SPEAKER_04Um what's on that big platform they're all getting on top of it.
SPEAKER_02That's just an uh it's just an observation thing where you can go up there, take pictures of see Main Street from all directions. That's all it is. That's all. Yeah, yeah. That's pretty cool, man. It's it's an interesting thing. It's it's a great experience. Um you know, again, if if I've gone there twice by myself, so it's a little different. You know, you can't uh uh you know, you're by yourself. It's it's a little different. But you know, if I was to go with a group of people, maybe, you know, I don't know, maybe people on my podcast. I don't know if that would ever happen. You know, that that'd be cool. You know, we could have some fun. But uh uh yeah, I think it's it's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_04I'm flying out.
SPEAKER_02There's an airport right there in Rapid City. Yeah, there you go. And um a lot of guys who don't feel like driving or don't feel like uh towing or whatever, they'll they'll ship their bikes out. And because I've seen that. There's plenty of companies out there that ship the bike out, and they they all show up on a uh in fact, there's a company right in Sturgis that will ship your bike from there to wherever. But uh they ship their bike out to to Sturgis and then they'll fly in and then just take an Uber to wherever their bike is.
SPEAKER_04And did you ever get a price on how much that is?
SPEAKER_02No, I never did. I know it's something I never never looked into, never considered.
SPEAKER_04So um isn't that would wouldn't that be podcast material?
SPEAKER_02Possibly. How much would it cost to ship a motorcycle to Sturgis? Um let's say. Oh, it's a second New Jersey. New Jersey. Uh $379. Not bad. Not horrible.
SPEAKER_04Is that one way or two ways?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Doesn't really say.
SPEAKER_03That's gotta be one way only. Because I I deal with shipping every day.
SPEAKER_02How it works here is how's step one. Order and quit booking, vehicle pickup, vehicle arrival. You know, okay. We pick up your vehicle. Uh they deliver. I don't know. That's all they say. Calculate cost. Uh motorcycle shipping? We're gonna say, we're gonna check it out right now.
SPEAKER_04Uh well, there are companies that specifically do that. I remember when I was just in Cramford and I was delivering mail, I saw a big long truck, and it had like 20 bikes on it.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04And he was picking up bikes for people and bringing them to the sturgeons.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh.
SPEAKER_02So much for that. I'll find out. We'll see how much it goes. I like it. And I don't like that, like you said, I don't think that's round trip. I think that's probably just one way.
SPEAKER_04But even I still don't think that's a lot of money either.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I don't know. Maybe it is round trip. Who knows? I have no idea. Maybe it is. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04It's probably gonna be cheaper than driving it out there yourself. Um well when I rode. You probably set that much in gas.
SPEAKER_02Uh I spent when I rode out, I spent the first year when I rode out, I spent uh $750 on no, I take that back. I spent $500 on gas. Plus or minus a couple dollars. Round trip? Uh round trip, $500 on fuel when I rode out. But I also took uh hotels each night, so I don't even count that. But it cost me like $500 to ride out and ride back. So I don't know. And when I trailered the bike, it cost me a little over $750 in fuel. Of course, the truck truck uses more gas, obviously. And all that. So uh hey, uh, check out the Ride with Ted YouTube channel and all the videos I got going on there. A new one's gonna be posting very soon, so uh check that out. And uh that's pretty much it.
SPEAKER_05I what's it gonna be? What's I doing?
SPEAKER_02What's that?
SPEAKER_05What are you doing in the video?
SPEAKER_02What video? Oh, the videos on my channel?
SPEAKER_05Well, you said a new one's gonna post soon.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's just it's just me just riding and just talking bullshit.
SPEAKER_05That's all that's all.
SPEAKER_02That's all.
SPEAKER_05I didn't know if you had one you were about to post.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I did. Yeah. It's just about me. Just bullshit. About keeping yourself comfortable and warm while you're ri comfortable and safe while you're riding in the heat. That's what's about. Alright, dudes. Uh, that's all I got. Do you guys have anything else you want to bring up? No. Upcoming golf events, perhaps a lighthouse trip? No?
SPEAKER_05Hopefully, all of the above.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_04There you go. Cool.
SPEAKER_05A golfing lighthouse trip. Well, if you go mini golfing, you can knock it out in one shot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's that's true too. Alright, so uh we've got uh 20. No, we got we got 17 episodes left until we get to our 500th. And uh we'll we'll get together. We're we're we're gonna we're kind of trying to figure out what we're gonna do. Probably just gonna be a pizza podcast, by the way. We'll see. Alright, dude. So uh that's all I got for now. Uh again, my name is Ted. I'm the host of here of this stupid shit show. And we got uh Tim Buck2, as always, in the corner of the booth. And uh Chris the Joker, nipples, dude. Yep, and uh just the brown all right guys. Uh Tim, you got uh want to close off with something?
SPEAKER_04Ride like nobody sees me.
SPEAKER_02Chris.
SPEAKER_04Right like everybody sees you. Justin. Right like everybody sees you.
SPEAKER_05Ride like you're trying to cross main street.
SPEAKER_02Uh I am dead, and uh listen, boys and girls. Hey, be safe out there, stay cool, and uh we'll uh we'll we'll chat with you in the next uh podcast. And uh yeah. Hey, remember, we say uh stupid crap, so you don't have to. And now I'm gonna do all kinds of noise too. How about that? Gotta get it. Stop playing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Who is your daddy? And what does it do? Don't fucking scream in your face, fucker!
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_00Hello, Judy Pie.
unknownDamn.
SPEAKER_00Who is your daddy? And what does it do?
